The Planning and Renovation Department is currently looking for an Architect to be located in Beirut Campus.
The position requires design work that shall include Architectural design of building structures and landscapes including concept, plans, specifications, reports, studies, and any such matters related with Architectural Design works. The Architect shall assist the Director of Planning & Renovations as follows:
Main Functions & Responsibilities
- The Architect collaborates actively with other construction professionals throughout the complete project, providing critical input on the smallest details right up to final inspection and approval sign-offs
- During this process, the Architect has to bear in mind structural integrity, surrounding terrain and environmental conditions, optimal utilization of available space and, not least, the look and appearance of the structure
- Researches, plans, and designs building projects for end-users, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, building codes, and building materials
- Consults with end-users to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time
- Plans layout of project and integrates engineering elements into unified design for end-user review and approval
- Has knowledge in all aspects of design process in a design consultancy environment from concept to design handover including bidding and bid evaluation processes
- Produces architectural presentation drawings, renderings and design drawings of buildings
- Makes site visits to check on progress of projects and deals with problems that might come up during building.
- Prepares technical specs for requests for trade prices
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Architecture from a renowned university
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Must demonstrate effective problem solving, time management and be self-motivated
- Good familiarity with commonly used word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheet, database software packages, Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, 3D MAX/Animation
- Knowledge of engineering/architectural design principles, codes and standards
- Knowledge of English and Arabic
- Strong project management and organizational skills with at least 4 years of experience in related field and preferably in educational institutions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong willingness to gain the appropriate experience in the field of construction engineering, site management, and administrative capabilities
- Self-innovative, creational and able to work under minimum level of supervision in a heavy workload environment. This will be beside a quality sense of defining technical problems, collecting appropriate and related data to establish solutions.
