United Nations Mission in Afghanistan, (UNAMA)
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Engineering Officer and the delegated authority of the mission. The responsibilities of the Design Engineer include but are not limited to the following:
- Apply complex engineering design principles, practices and precedents for initiating and completing project design, drawings and specifications related to new construction or repair of buildings , prefabricated structures, other infrastructure, including the production of Bill of Quantities;
- Conduct preliminary site investigations to obtain field data such a site orientation, climatic conditions, soil characteristics, drainage and other data required for selection of sites within the field mission;
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, designs and specifications for accommodation structures (both office and residential) and other infrastructure for UNAMA;
- Plan and prepare layouts of camps and building clusters for mission headquarters, regional and provincial locations;
- Conduct space planning in accordance with standard criteria, scales and concepts;
- Assist with the scheduling of task assignments, and prepare project status reports;
- Prepare detailed architectural and working drawings for horizontal and vertical construction projects as assigned;
- Maintain drawing and design records and the drawing/specification library for the UNAMA Drawing and Design Office;
- Develop specifications for engineering projects, goods and services;
- Prepare cost estimates for new construction projects, and also estimates for repairs to damaged buildings, facilities and systems in order to determine whether repair or replacement are cost effective and feasible;
- Analyze project proposals to ensure technical feasibility and to ensure project objectives are attainable within the prescribed resources;
- Liaise with internal ( cross sectional) and external stakeholders to resolve challenges through teamwork;
- Undertake research to gather information related to engineering projects; Prepare engineering presentation using up to date technologies.

Head of Architecture
To manage the Architectural Department of a multi-discipline design office engaged in architectural and engineering design of major building projects, including residential, commercial, corporate, recreational, educational, health-care and mixed-use developments, from initial concept and preliminary design to final design and tender documentation level.
Reporting to the senior management, responsibilities will include:
- General management of the Architectural Department in relation to resources, staff assignments, technical standards, etc.

Interior Designer - Sleep Comfort - Lebanon
- Performs professional and technical work involving the efficient design of interiors to encourage maximum space utilization.
- This individual is responsible for planning, designing, and drafting detailed specifications for creating a pleasing and functional interior environment.
- Work may also be performed in collaboration with an architect or other designer.

Senior Architect - Beam Architects - Lebanon
We are seeking a Senior Architect with 8-10 years+ working experience in a major international or local architecture firm with built projects experience. The applicant must be enthusiastic about experimental architecture and have experience in final and detailed planning of architectural projects.
Main Tasks
- Assist in preparation of design development drawings
- Ability to take schematic design drawings and develop them into construction documents
- Good design sensibility to carry the concept into the finite details of the building
- Produce/supervise a minimum of two assisting junior architects and control project drawings and documents in Design Development and Construction Document stages
- Assist in compiling data for architectural plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, etc
- Develop and design quality custom details
- Review work of contractor, verifying specified materials are being used, dimensions are as drawn and quality is according to standards

- Aesthetic sensitivity and confident design skills
- Excellent skills in execution drawings and the development of project specific details
- Excellent CAD skills (AutoCAD / Rhino a plus)
