Architect Coordinator - Qualco - Lebanon

The purpose of the Architect Coordinator's job is to provide effective technical support from Head Office to one or more Project Managers for the successful management and execution of construction projects.

Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate and guide a team of architects, assistant architects and draftspersons.
- Oversees the drawings for accuracy and assurance of compliance to standards.
- Supports the Managers of Construction sectors in the planning of newly-awarded projects
- Provides specialized technical input and support to all departments at the Head Office that are involved in the project (particularly Engineering and Procurement Departments), especially for complex technical tasks (e.g. technical evaluation of received supplier quotations for complex Procurement transactions, review of complex Engineering design, etc.)
- Provides technical input and support to the Estimation department.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of the modern principles and practices of architecture.
- Knowledge of construction methods and materials, and methods of surveying and inspection.
- Ability to review, analyze and make recommendations regarding designs, plans and specifications.
- Ability to supervise and plan the work of technical and professional subordinates.
- 5-7 years of experience in the construction field.
- BS in Architectural engineering

Senior Planning Engineer - Arabian Construction Company - Lebanon

- Critical & risk issues in contract: Recognize risks & critical items falling under his jurisdiction.
- Specifications: Review related specifications.
- Design drawings & design updates/variations: Review.
- Bills of Quantities: Establish work items priorities - quantities per sequence - identify relationships between trades & items.
- Value Engineering: Coordinate with technical manager and CM to assess schedule impact of VE- prepare revised program.
- Payment certificates: Receive a copy of certified payment& updates program accordingly as required.
- Planning & Program: Identify specification requirements; agree presentation format illustrate delay impact and various scenarios as required by PM/CM; develop sub programs as needed; coordinate with PM on global planning and milestone identification; agree on sequence and durations with CM; develop relationships among activities; develop program & review with CM; present to PM for approval; review according to Engineer's comments; collect data from CM /section engineers for periodic updates; and flag potential delays; implement modifications; provide updates & look ahead.
- Training: Train subordinates (where applicable) - measure improvement of performance of selected Training candidate.
- Staff performance appraisals: Assist PM in establishing Project particulars and Specific objectives for each position in planning unit & interfacing with planning unit Conduct periodically Performance appraisal in accordance with HO HR policy.
- Company Culture - rules procedures & policies: Acquire &respect through implementation company culture and company policies.
- Mobilization - Site installation & temporary services & Site appearance & Signage: Incorporate needed time &resources in program-update same.
- Execution strategy & Method statements: Develop Schedule based on execution strategy laid down by PM-Identify major milestones in method statement-Coordinate with CM compliance of trade method statements with schedule established sequences and relations between various activities.
- Procurement: Prepare + Prioritize Procurement Schedule.
- Cash flow: Develop cash flow in compliance with HO set guidelines and policies and in line with program.
- Shop Drawings - As built drawings: Develop Schedule of submittals.
- Claims & Variations: Assist in illustrating and substantiating Variations time effects and Claim events.

Requirements
- Engineering degree
- Strong leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills for project planning.
- Acquainted with various construction materials and equipment, having previous working experience as a Planning Engineer.
- Work according to the project program and be capable of establishing a detailed agenda for the required section of works.
- Be able to read the project specification drawings and assist in preparing method statements for the construction of the different activities of the project according to the requirements based on the project budget.
- Excellent Arabic and English.

Architects, Civil and Mechanical Engineers - D-Rasati - Lebanon

D-RASATI is seeking Civil and Mechanical Engineers, and Architects to conduct technical surveys in order to assess the conditions and identify the rehabilitation needs of public school buildings and their facilities.

The architects and engineers will work under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Program Director and the Senior Engineer to conduct the surveys in a timely manner with high quality in all regions of Lebanon and subsequently may oversee the proper implementation of the rehabilitation work required

Essential Functions [but are not limited to:
- Assess school status (including school infrastructure and building),
- Take measurements to calculate and estimate required repairs;
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates of works required;
- Prepare sketches of required repairs and or locations;
- Notify the Senior Engineer/Program manager of any obstacles or challenges;
- Collect the required information and report to the Senior Engineer.
- Report regularly to the Senior Engineer on progress;

Qualifications
- A civil engineer, mechanical engineer, or an architect who is a member of one of the Orders of Engineers and Architects of Lebanon or has the educational and other credentials required to join;
- Relevant experience in school rehabilitation or similar education projects is an asset;
- Knowledge of projects’ monitoring in the field is required;
- Experience with USAID-funded programs is a plus.
- Good Experience in AutoCAD is a plus
- Good communication skills required;
- Fluency in Arabic required, English is a plus;
- Ability to work in a cross cultural environment;
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Is problem solver and achiever;
- Car and mobile phone are a must;
- Good organizational and time management skills required;
- Good technical writing and reporting skills required;
- Competent in using word and excel;
- Ability to walk, stand, reach and possibly climb on ladders and go up or down stairs to inspect and collect data on the physical conditions of the school facilities including roofs and basements;
- Lebanese national;
- Clean and up to date police certificate (sijil ‘adleh).

Compensation - Transportation as per project formula;
- Hotel overnight lodging if required;
- This position is an intermittent full-time job over the next three months at least, with possibility to extend;

Design Engineer - United Nations

Mission
United Nations Mission in Afghanistan, (UNAMA)

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Engineering Officer and the delegated authority of the mission. The responsibilities of the Design Engineer include but are not limited to the following:

- Apply complex engineering calculations, practices and precedents for initiating and completing engineering projects related to new construction or repair of buildings, roads, field defenses, prefabricated structures, other infrastructure, including but not limited producing accurate Bills of Quantities and Specification, Scope of Work in all UNAMA mission areas;
- Ability to manage projects from inception through completion of construction, including the preparation of detailed design drawings using AUTOCAD Software;
- Produce accurate project schedules;
- Conduct preliminary site investigations to obtain field data such as site orientation, climatic conditions, soil characteristics, drainage and other data required for selection of sites within the field mission;
- Develop specifications for engineering projects, goods and services;
- Accurately estimate costs of new construction projects, and also estimates for repairs to damaged buildings, facilities and systems in order to determine whether repairs or replacement are cost effective and feasible;
- Budget preparation for engineering construction and installation projects;
- Analyze project proposals to ensure technical feasibility and to ensure that project objectives are attainable within the prescribed resources;
- Liaise with internal ( cross sectional) and external stakeholders to resolve challenges through teamwork;
- Undertake research to gather information related to engineering projects;
- Prepare engineering presentations using advances in technologies;
- Monitor and supervise construction and engineering services contractors, and national engineering personnel assigned to the Engineering Section in the Mission.

Competencies

- Planning and organizing – Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan and those under his/her supervision;

- Technology Awareness – Solid computer and engineering related database management skills. Ability to utilize and operate common Engineering related software, and use AutoCad, spreadsheets, power point presentations, and project management applications (Microsoft Project)
- Teamwork – Respect for diversity. Ability to establish and maintain effective relations with people of different national and cultural background.

Qualifications
- University Degree (Bachelors Degree or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience related to UN engineering activities design , development of SOW’s , site supervision , plant operation, contract management , financial regulations, field operations, etc.;
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential;
